Agile Shelties are working to continue to build a sound tempered versatile dog that is the whole package. I’ve started with a line of dogs that came from some classic kennels and the usual well-known ancestors as most lines in North America. They came with balanced bodies, nice temperament and lots of drive, and clear health testing, but I felt it lacked refinement (head details, bone, and coat). I drift towards a well-angulated body and a moderately sized dog with substance and love a nice neck and head piece when looking to add virtues to my line.
Litters are carefully planned to produce pups with virtues, type, balance, structure, and wonderful temperaments. Breeding is only considered once our dogs are proven worthy of the privilege.
Our goal is to build a versatile, well-rounded and typie dog that’s the whole package. One with drive and a great temperament that can hold it’s own in the show ring, then turn around and rock the performance world by day and chill out and watch a movie by night.
I do get some temperaments that are pretty busy and outgoing, but I also get some pups that are far more relaxed. In every litter, there is a range of temperaments and drive(s), and I’m careful to place each pup in the right home.
At Agile Shelties we breed once or twice a year, and from proven and tested sires and dams when we hope to keep an outstanding puppy for ourselves.

EVERY litter was raised using the “super puppy” program – for details, google Early Neurological Stimulation for Puppies. Pups are Volhard tested at 49 days. Pups are raised in a carefully planned environment of enrichment fostering gentle stimulation for mental and physical growth.
Each pup has been prepared for an easy transition to the new home as each pup has been well handled and socialized for their age and has many skills started such as leash training, house training, crate training, manners, as well as sit, down, let’s go, house, and go-find commands, and a few tricks.
